6. How does BDevS differ from BA (Rural Development)?
  • BDevS is semester system four-year course, whereas BA (Rural Development) is annual system three-year course.
  • BDevS focuses on development sociology, economics, environment, development management
  • BA (Rural Development) focuses on political sociology, rual infrastructure, agriculture
7. How does BDevS differ from Bachelor in Social Works (BSW)?
  • BDevS focuses on socio-economic development, whereas BSW on human welfare, nursing, and rehabilitation.
  • BDevS focuses on development sociology, economics, environment, development management. BSW does on sociology, human psychology, women studies and education.
  • BDevS adopts field based approach, whereas BSW is voluntary based.
8. What are the opportunities for higher education upon completion of BDevS?
  • Qualiflied for Master in Development Studies (MDevs), MBA and Master level course in sociology, economics, environment studies, human and natural resourse management, regional planing, international relations, development management, socio-economic related interdisciplinary programs, and so on
9. What are the job opportunities after BDevS?
  • Independent research works, NGO/INGOs, development projects, government organizations, donors agencies, corporate sector etc

12. Where are the college graduates engaged?
  • Higher studies in home country at KU, TU, Pokhara University.
  • Higher studies abroad at AIT-Bangkok, EWU-Dhaka, JNU-Delhi, Punjab University-India, University of Wisconsin-Fulbright Scholarship, Symbiosis College-Pune, University of East Angila-UK, Australia, Scotland, and many others.

13. Are there any special attractions other than academic learning?
  • There are extracurricular activities, in which students get involved to learn life skills and hands on knowledge.
  • Students are encouraged to participate in various national and international activities, The Nepal-Japan students and Faculty Exchange Program is one of the examples. Scholarships available for higher studies upon successful completion of BDevS or BDfin.
Financial Part
14. How much is for an application form?
  • Rs500/-
15. What will be the minimum fees to be paid at the time of admission?
  • Admission Fee: Rs 15,000/-
  • Security Depost: Rs 6,000/- (refundable after completion of the program)
  • First installment of Semester Fee: Rs 19,000/-
  • Project work fee: Rs 10,000/- in the fourth year second semester.
16. What will be the fee structure after admission?
  • Fees can be paid in two installments in each of the eight semesters.
  • Per Installment Semester Fee Rs 19,000/- in the first and second years.
  • Per Installment Semester Fee Rs 21,000/- in the third and fourth years.
  • KU registration and end-semester examination fees will be separately charged as per KU policy.
17. Is there incentive in fees payment?
  • Rebeates available for advance payment of Installments
  • Howerver, there will be fine for late payments
18. What are the scholarships available?
  • There are meritorious and toppers scholarships (The college management will announce on the basis of the academic results.
  • There are limited number of needy and diligent scholarships (students have to apply with recommendations)
19. Is there any financial support available for the students?
  • There are three research grants for the students?:
    • Himalaya Shamsher JB Rana Grant for BDFin Research Project proposal
    • Himalaya Shamsher JB Rana Grant for BDevS Research Project Proposal
    • Prof MN Mishra Grant for BDevS/BDFin Research Project Proposal
  • There are also serveral research grants made available by various oranizations and projects including WWF; MEDEP, SACEP, WCN, WTLCP and so on.
Admission Part
20. How many seats are available in the programs?
  • BDevS: 60 Nepalase + 6 Foreigners (in Two Sections)
  • BDFin: 30 Nepalese + 4 Foreigners
21. What are the minimum requirements for admission to BDevS/BDFin?
  • 45% in the aggregate in 10+2 (HSSB) or equivalent in any stream (Students who have passed grade XI and waiting of the result of XII can also appear in the entrance examination.)
  • 'D' (Advance) or better grades is three subjects in Advance Level
  • Pass the entrance examination of the college
  • Final list of the students for admission will be derived from the merit list.
22. What will be the basis of the merit list?
  • The basis of the merit list will be as follows:
    • Entrance examination of 100 marks (Written test of 85 and Interview/Oral test 15)
    • 10+2 aggregates of 100 marks
    • Total: 200 marks
23. What are the documents to be attached with the application form?
  • The following documents must be attached:
    • SLC or equivalent mark sheet
    • transcripts of 10+2 or equivalent
    • character certificate
    • migration certificate in the ase of students passed from the universities abroad
    • citizenship certificate
    • photographs
      • passport size (three) for entrance examination
      • passport size (two), and auto size (two) at the time of admission
24. What will be the structure of entrance examination?
  • There will be two stages:
    • written test, and
    • oral test (interview)
  • The written test of entrance examination will be for two hours
  • The condiadates who passed the written test will be selected for oral test (interview)
25. What are subjects and full marks in the entrance examination?
  • The subjects and marks in the entrance examination will be as follows:
    • Mathematics (20),
    • English (30) and
    • General Knowledge
26. What is the pass mark of the written test?
  • Pass mark 40% in each subject, and 50% in aggregate
Evaluation Part
27. What are the evaluation systems for BDevS and BDFin students?
  • The evaluation system in based on marks and grades
  • The overall evaluation of students will be based on 100 marks as follows:
    • 25 marks for internal evaluation to be conducted by concerned faculty covering attendance, assignments, and internal assessments, and
    • 75 Marks for the end-semester written examinations to be conducted by KU's Office of the Eamination Controller.
How the marks obtained by students will be reflected in certificates?
  • Ku has a grading system based on total 100 marks for each subject as follows:

29. Is there any provission for students who failed?
  • There is a compartment system of examinations at KU
  • Students who failed on or two subject can sit for compartment examination immediately after the semester results
  • Students who failed in three or more subjects will have an opportunity to repeat the particular semester
